The Personality Engine

This needs to go into my nonfiction area, but I haven't put it there yet. Just posted to my Slashdot journal. It may be a bit out there for some. Certainly some (most) would tell me to keep my day job.

Getting There

I still have a little more work to do, some directories to fill, but everything is now working correctly.

The Feedback CGI has been improved and set for specific sections, in fact there is now a Feedback for this Homepage. I'm surprised Blogger.com doesn't provide an easy feedback link on your blog page (maybe I just don't know the Blogger.com way to do it) or maybe I'm just spoiled by Slashdot providing built in feedback on your personal journal.

Anyway here is my (simple) feedback link for this page: Larry's Weblog Feedback

Trying to get Organized

OK, I’ve got a plan for this Blog now. Originally I was planning on just making my Blogger.com weblog just a front for my Slashdot.org account and my JayTV.com offerings. I now see a way for all three to get along. Some Blog items will end up in both Slashdot and Larry’s Blog, some in one or the other as appropriate.

I spent most of this evening rearranging my directories on JayTV to make more sense, and the works not done yet, so forgive a few broken links. I had been cluttering my Slashdot Journal with some pretty long entries about my personal life. These will go into JayTV as “Larry’s Life” (see link at left). Right now this directory is empty, but I’ll get to it, and shorten up those Slashdot entries by just making them links.

“Larry’s Fiction” still needs to be split up between fiction and nonfiction.

“Larry’s Humor” moved, but feedback not working yet (it’s always something.)

Blah, blah, blah, more than you need to know. It’s all turning out to be more of a chore than I had anticipated. I’m not happy yet with the look of my Blog Home Page, I may grab a different template. In the mean time I guess it’s getting the job done. Fixing up the looks of the pages it links to is probably more important at this point.

Getting Started

After looking through some Microsoft Publisher 97 web templates, I decided to check out blogger.com
It has fewer template choices for a webpage layout, but they look a lot better.

I have hard coded many html pages from scratch, but never achieved a really slick commercial look. This will probably look a little too generic, but it'll do for a start. I'll probably just rip the whole thing up and replace it with some other web design tool. I plan on keeping day to day entries on Slashdot.com anyway.
